He could easily have sent Cooro to get them, but he had felt like getting out of the apartment. Balthier could only stay indoors for so long before his wanderlust overtook him. He had been too long without adventure, anyway.

A part of him wished he were able to find some of the shot he was used to back in Ivalice, though he knew the idea to be no more than idle fancy in this place. But it would be nice to not have to worry how much ammo he had left and just shoot for once. At least the out come was the same as with any other gun.

Balthier frowns as he enters the gun shop, stopping in the doorway. He can tell that something is off, but he can't quite put his finger on it. It isn't until he spies the familiar figure also within the shop that he realizes he's managed to find more adventure than he ever intended. Still, he isn't quite in the mood to start a fight, and so he glares at the doctor's back before going about his business.

Unfortunately for Balthier, the pair of rooks hone in on him the moment he steps into the shop, one of them emitting a low beeping sound that alerts their creator. The doctor has a gun in hand and turns instantly, pointing towards the target, but then he quickly hesitates when he sees who it is. Ffamran... of all the people to...

He sighs, grumbles, then lowers his weapon back down to the counter top, pressing at a device secured to his side that calls the rooks off, and they idle around the store again. Going back to his work would be the best of plans, and ignoring the presence of his son the other until they both had finished with their business...

Yet he chooses to speak, not quite conversational, and more wary of the attempt than anything - after all, they have never exactly spoken face-to-face. "Out of ammo?" he asks. No, perhaps he really just shouldn't try.

He hadn't noticed the rooks at first, and it wasn't until the rooks approached that he finally took notice of the rooks. He remembered the old man mentioning something about them over the journals, but he hadn't expected them to be as well put together as this. He can't help wonder just how long Cid had been working on them.

Balthier glances at the gun pointed at him, but otherwise doesn't react. He has been in this situation too many times to count by now, and part of him even expects the old man to fire. He's somewhat surprised when Cid doesn't, but doesn't allow that to show on his face. It seems he wasn't in much of a mood for a fight, either.

"How astute," Balthier replies, though it's not as scathing as it usually would be. There is still a hint of annoyance, but it's directed moreso toward the situation than anything else. "Interesting toys you've managed to build yourself."

Not as much as time as they needed; there were still far too many kinks in the devices than he would have hoped, which left him waiting for one to be in battle before it locked up and left him defenseless. Avoiding battles were still the better idea.

Firing on Ffamran now would be a mere waste of time. There was no point. They weren't (exactly) on opposite sides anymore, not when it came to the city at least. Personalities, old habits, and very old issues, however? Those continued to keep them at war with one another.

But Cid had to admit that the pirate was skilled with airships. Here, perhaps, they could come to some sort of agreement. ...Although asking him about it wasn't on the list of things Cid wanted to do. That left them at a bit of a standstill.

He continues to rifle through a box. "Worthless, in comparison with previous work," he answers, "This city has nothing Ivalice." In all shapes and forms. It only had bigger monsters.

Though, he was alive here. He would have to make do.
