In the Goddamn Car, not ten whole yards of open, unobstructed air away, Robert shot a deadpan glare at Mac. The range was shorter than a walky-talky set, and it was with audible difficulty that Robert kept the sarcasm in his voice down to non-fatal levels.

"Yeah Mac," He sighed, "I can hear you."

Kaylee had to admit, Hope was certainly not a bad boat. A little worse for the wear, maybe, but she and Goofy had done what they could too get her up and running nice.

The paint had been chipped away long before the two of them had ever gotten their hands on it, but at least she could say that the engine itself was almost new. They had picked it for convenience--for speed and capacity. Depending on how fast an escape they needed, or how many people they needed to move at a given time, the boat would hold anywhere from two to ten comfortably. If it was really needed, they'd probably be able to cram an extra six, but it wouldn't be the best for anyone who easily felt cramped.

The engine was easily accessible, which was another reason they had favored it. If something went wrong, it'd be easier to fix. Kaylee pushed away from the engine now to glance back at Mac, and beyond him the team at the car. "We're ready to go here," she grinned. "Lemme just check around the bolts on the externals and we'll be set, I think."

Goofy was pretty proud of all the hard work he and Kaylee had put into Hope, and he had to admit that working on the boat had brought back a lot of fond memories of his early days working on steam boats. He knew if anything could get them safely to shore, it was their Hope.

This day, the knight had forgone his usual outfit in favor of a pair of overalls and a big tool belt containing everything the group could need. He still had his buckler of course, and his trusty cap and goggles, and he could only hope he hadn't forgotten anything. With what they had in mind, Goofy had a feeling things could get very interesting.

Currently he and Kaylee were going over the boat itself, to make sure it was in full working order before it's maiden voyage. Poking his head up from below deck, the Goof said, "Everything's okay down here. Ya won't have to worry about any leaks or nothin'."

The Doctor resisted the urge to grin at Neville's thinly-veiled sarcasm. Even in the face of something as exciting as this little mission, the man still retained his characteristic cynicism. The Doctor had to admit that it was starting to become more amusing than irritating.

He also had to admit that those two had come up with a very promising little boat. It seemed sturdy enough, it had a good engine - and an even better name. Whoever had settled on it simply couldn't have come up with a more fitting name, the Doctor thought approvingly, as he stood back near Neville and watched them give the boat one final examination before the test began.

With Neville, sarcasm was a given. Mac was still getting used to it, but he was making progress. For example, he got to laughing this time.

"Good! Time for cast off. MacGyver, over and out."

Stowing the radio, he nodded to his two shipmates. "Alright, folks! If we're ready to go, hang on and let's go! Won't get much of a shot at this." With that, he turned the key and felt the engines rumble to life under him, beginning to wash the boat out to the river proper.

Mac grinned. Sometimes, he wondered what it'd be like to be the puck on the rink instead of a player. At the mercy of countless sticks and rough-housing kids, denied even a little self-will to nudge this way or that. Dodge the sticks, avoid the stinging slapshots.

Luckily, this time, the puck had one hell of a nudge. Mac hoped it was enough.
