Characters: Zack Fair, Kairi, anybody else around? Content: Goofing off on the way home. 8D Location: Near Bryant Park Hotel Time of day: late afternoon Warnings: None~
When the snowball hit, Kairi had been totally caught off guard, and she paused wondering who might have thrown it. Sora? Riku? No... they were probably busy. And it was doubtful Sora would throw it anyway. She spun around and scanned the area, spotting Zack after some effort (she was getting use to searching for crabs, after all... though they were louder) and a smile crept across her face.
Freudia did suggest that she should enjoy the snow while it was here - even mentioned a snowball fight. It had been awhile since she had one.
Kairi bit her lip as she grinned, then reached down and scooped up a handful of snow, packing it as she ran for some cover, and then she did her best to throw it towards Zack.
"Hey!" Zack called out, shaking the snow of his his spiky hair with some effort. "I wasn't ready! Do-over!"
Moving to run behind an abandoned car - really, the best kind of shield out there - the SOLDIER scooped up two handfuls of snow and ducked low with a grin, waiting a moment until the younger girl was in view, then tossing them her way.
Kairi laughed, calling out, "Nope! I'm so counting it!" but it wasn't like she was actually keeping score. It was relieving to have a bit of fun and not always be on her toes looking for a battle. Well, technically she could count this as a battle, too.
She crouched down quickly, but the snow still caught her in the shoulder. The abandoned cars seemed like a good idea on Zack's part, and she glanced around, slipping towards one in her crouch and gathering more snow.
She stayed hidden by the tire for a good minute, packing several small snow balls (she was use to going up against Sora and Riku in these sorts of things; she knew she needed a steady offense). Then after taking one in each hand Kairi could only hope Zack hadn't moved far (or come towards her, for that matter), and popped up to try to look through a foggy window for him...
If there was one thing that was forced upon him in SOLDIER, it was patience. Granted, he wasn't very good at it - several missions with Angeal had resulted in him jumping the gun and exposing their position - but he could at least try. The dark-haired man began packing mounds of snow behind his own 'shield' as he waited, preparing for a flat-out assault.
Peeking over the hood of the car, he grinned when the younger girl had done the same and immediately began the assault, tossing the prepared snowballs wherever he could in her direction, but making sure none of them contained any ice. It was supposed to be for fun anyway, not violence.
