Tara walked up to the door of Mr. Edgeworth's apartment, or what she hoped was his apartment. The map he'd given her had helped, but she'd always been the kind of girl to follow guts rather than maps, so she wasn't entirely sure she was where she was supposed to be ( ... )

Moving swiftly from his chair, Miles was at the door only brief moments from when Tara knocked. He glanced through the peephole and, satisfied that it was not Drusilla, pulled the door open. "Miss. Maclay," he greeted with a curt nod, letting the door swing further so that she could come in. "You made it here on time."

Really, he wasn't sure what to say. The last time a random stranger from the network had come over, he'd ended up being bitten, and the bandage around his neck stood testimony to the lingering wound, although it was partly concealed by the cravat he wore. (It had taken forever to get the blood stains out, but he had succeeded.) Unlike last time, however, Miles has a sword at his hip. "Come in."

He took a step back, allowing her more room, but did not turn his back on her. Not after last time. "Can I offer you some tea?"

"Um, hello," Tara said nervously as Mr. Edgeworth nodded briskly and let her in.

She didn't know exactly what it was he wanted to know about vampires, and she suspected he wouldn't take anything she said particularly well, but he'd asked her to come, so she would try her best to make it easy for him. Noticing the sword at his hip, she figured he'd at least learned a little from his experience.

"Tea would be, um, nice. If it's not a-any trouble?" she said, shuffling after him. "B-but we could just, um, get right to t-talking, if you w-wanted."

For someone who supposedly had knowledge on vampires, she was not was Miles would have expected. That said, he would have until very recently dismissed the notion as insane and not have thought of what someone who is aware of vampires should look like, so perhaps he was not best qualified.

"If it were a trouble I would not offer it," came the clipped reply, Miles barely casting a look over his shoulder as he moved to the kitchen. "I imagine the topic is not one that can be summarized briefly. We might as well be comfortable."

He set himself to preparing the tea, and called through the doorway. "Feel free to sit, Miss Maclay."
