Characters: Chris Redfield and Daniel Jackson Content: Chris delivers much needed supplies to Daniel Location: New York Palace Hotel Time of day: 7:30 P.M. Warnings: None
Daniel was running a bit late, thanks to a slight catastophe involving a backed-up sink in the kitchenette. Wiping his hands dry on a towel, he went jogging down the hall towards the lobby just in time to hear the desk bell ring a few times. That'll probably be him! Finally, some supplies! Backed-up sink aside, the thought of having real food stores raised his spirits considerably as he entered the lobby.
Sure enough, there stood a man wearing a very bright yellow parka. Daniel noted instinctively that the man was well-armed and had a reserved, cautious aire about him. Well, who wouldn't in this city? Daniel was still in his BDUs and had taken to keeping his Kevlar vest on, albeit unzipped.
Putting on his friendliest smile, Daniel tossed the towel on one of the lobby couches and approached, hand outstetched. "Chris Redfield, I take it? I'm Daniel Jackson."
"Guilty as charged." Chris says, returning the smile and extending his own hand to shake Daniel's. Unfortunately, his glove is still wet from the snow, but he shakes anyway. He's sure the man won't mind a little water. "Nice to meet you. Pretty nice digs you've got here."
Chris gestures around to the hotel lobby, then raises his hands and flips down the hood of the parka.
Daniel accepts the handshake, merely wiping the wetness off on his pants. "Nice to meet you, too." He gives a wry grin as his eyes follow Chris's gesture around the lobby. "Yeah, I'm not gonna pretend I wasn't surprised that this place is in such good shape. You'd hardly guess the rest of the city's half demolished."
Clapping his hands together, Daniel grins again and says, "Well, I'd offer you something to eat, but I think you have all the food! I hope you didn't have too much trouble getting over here, by the way; it's pretty nasty outside."
Chris chuckles at the joke, then removes a satchel he has slung over one shoulder and puts it on the register desk beside them.
"Nah, it wasn't bad. Trudging through waist deep snow would ordinarily suck, but it's easy if you factor in that I didn't get attacked by anything."
He unzips the parka he's wearing, reaches into the breast pocket of his shirt, and with draws a pack of cigarettes and a Zippo lighter.
"Mind if I smoke?" Chris asks, then nods at the satchel. "Go ahead and dig in, by the way. It's not Wolfgang Puck, but it'll keep you from starving."
In the satchel are various canned goods, a manual can opener, a box of waterproof matches, some bottled water, a small bag of aspirin, hard candy, a set of silverware, Twinkies (Hey, they never go bad), and two cans of Budweiser beer.
