The air shone slightly turquoise as Naoki walked, his steps loud and clear. Times Square was certainly different now from the footage he'd seen of it in countless newscasts and videos. No one here. Littered debris. The lights were off.

Drab and cold

And yet, still alive.

His steps echoed more as he entered a large building, seeking shelter or whatever else he could find. It was darker than outside, but his markings glowed all the brighter. He held up his hand to light the way.

A chuckle escaped his lips.

What I wouldn't give for Lightoma...or at least a flashlight.

Muffled clicks and clacks sounded as he walked, looking around, steadily more wary. It was said that the crabs liked the dark.

Naoki's eyes flicked. The sound of footsteps.

His head turned. The sight of illumination.

He relaxed. A human.

Clear voice. "Hello?"

Not expecting any company, or any that could talk anyway, Cheryl nearly screamed when she heard the voice, as it was she jumped, her flashlight beam snapping up in the direction of the voice. Once she saw it was a person, she relaxed, the hand that had moved to her gun falling away, although then she realized that the man was glowing.

This place just kept getting weirder and weirder. "Who're you?" she inquired, never really the most polite of people. It was really all she could do to keep from addressing the part about him glowing in the dark.

Well, now.

What to say.

"I amwho I am who I am well who am IKashima Naoki. New arrival...is one week."

Some thought. The markings glowed.

"...You think I am not human," he said finally, averting his eyes and spading his hands into his pockets, trying to be casual. He came across more awkward than not.

...If so, she was half-right, though.

Cheryl raised an eyebrow, resting the flashlight against her hip and shrugging her free shoulder.

"I don't really remember saying that but since you brought it up? I don't know if you noticed, but you're glowing in the dark." Last she checked, humans couldn't do that, unless they had just taken a stroll through a toxic waste plant or something. And even then she wasn't sure if that was just some effect from a movie.
