Ichigo hadn't waited very long before setting out to level with his oldest friend. It was way past time, probably had been even before he'd left to rescue Inoue from Hueco Mundo, even if he'd been a little too busy to sit down and have a talk with her then. What was left to hide? They'd both been yanked here by some supernatural force and were surrounded by even weirder shit than home had, or maybe just as weird as.

He brought Zangetsu with him but kept him wrapped up. Even if he didn't run into trouble on the way there, being a shinigami was part of him now. This would be the best way he had of showing Tatsuki he wasn't hiding anymore.

When he made it to the dorm Tatsuki was squatting in and managed to find her room, he knocked lightly to let her know he was there but didn't bother waiting for her to open the door. She knew he was coming.

"Hey." He nodded to her as he entered, making sure to shut the door behind him, in case there was shouting.

There was a knock on the door, followed by a familiar voice. He must've just come right over. So much for worrying about that detail, then. "Hey." She turned to look. Yep, it was him alright. He was in the same black haori he had been in last time she saw him; same huge, weird-looking sword, too. Nothing she couldn't handle. Not yet, at least.

"Nice chef's knife you got there," she said with a smile, while she still could. "Good to see you again. Feel free to, y'know, go ahead and sit anywhere."

"He's not a chef's knife," he said, only a little offended. Unslinging Zangetsu from his back but keep him wrapped up, he leaned the sword against the wall. "Maybe it looks a little like one, but not chef's knife can do what Zangetsu can."

Briefly, he wondered if the old man was doing okay. He'd been pretty silent ever since coming here; more of the damn power-dampening effect. But that wasn't the issue tonight.

He nodded at Tatsuki and sat down on the corner of her bed. "So what do you wanna know?" he asked. "I doubt I know anything more about this place than you do-it's got nothing to do with what was happening at home. But whatever questions you got, I'll try to answer."

She could tell by the tone of his voice how he felt about the joke, and frankly, part of her wanted to make another that included the word "compensating," but this wasn't really the time for that. That, and it was too easy. "Well, show me later. Y'know, when we're outside."

For all she had to ask him, she wasn't really sure where to start. She'd picked up a little about this place, so fortunately she wouldn't need to ask him about that. Thinking about it a moment, she went with the obvious question first. "That portal thing, in that shopkeeper's basement... where did you go?"
