Comment here to talk to Spin, etc! eba05 January 5 2009, 03:18:21 UTC
It had taken a lot of planning on his and Giselle's part, but here it was; caroling. They had volunteers to sing, they had routes planned, and they had a fat stack of books containing appropriate songs (very few of which made note of any babies or holiness, so as not to offend non-Catholics).

And now all they had to do was get themselves started. Spin beamed as he waited for the singers to arrive.

Giselle was just as happy as Spin was and was wearing an appropriate caroling dress, she and Miwako (before Miwako mysteriously vanished) had worked on the outfit for a long time. Giselle was happy with it and wished they could have made enough for all those participating. Still, it would be fun regardless and Giselle was ready to sing to everyone.

(ooc: Giselle is wearing the one with the green robe from the picture in the link).

Elphaba, feeling somewhat awkward, showed up at the designated meeting place. She didn't even know what this holiday was, exactly, but the witch had told Spin she'd come, and kept her word. As usual, she dressed in black, but it was offset by a deep burgundy cape and the multi-colored scarf Giselle had made for her shortly after her arrival in Manhattan. Her face brightened minutely when she saw two of her favorite residents of the city already present.

Botan scurried along to the meeting spot. Apparently she wasn't too early, as she saw three others there. That was a relief. Her clothes were much fancier than hers, so she hoped she wasn't under-dressed in her pink parka and knitted hat.

Billy/Dr. Horrible's Residence: Kaylee, Giselle, Stitch ihasadeathray January 5 2009, 07:38:16 UTC
Billy lay curled up on top of his bed, buried under a pile of blankets with the heater cranked up, sketching out the plans for a new project. It was a ray gun he would be able to use to defend himself against the crabs; as simple and effective an aluminum bat or steel pipe may be against those creatures, physical violence just wasn't his area of expertise. He needed something different.

Ideally he would be able to create a wrist-mounted weapon like the one he'd built at home, but given the lack of any sophisticated energy sources in this city (no wonderflonium? Seriously?), he'd settle for something larger. The trouble would be in generating the power to actually kill or incapacitate those monsters. Would batteries be a viable option? What if he ( ... )

Giselle's skirt swished over the snowy roads as she walked with her group towards Billy's place of residence. She was happy that Spin had given her Billy to sing to, the few times she'd spoken with him he'd seemed really friendly despite his claims to be a villain. Besides, someone who loved to sing as much as he said he did couldn't be THAT bad.

She turned to her two friends when they were at the door, "Oh! We should probably agree on a song to sing before we knock...what song should it be?"

Kaylee had been, needless to say, extremely impressed by Giselle's dress. She had it in mind to at least discuss the pattern with her later, if not learn exactly how it had been made. Mal wasn't all that big on his mechanic having dresses, but whether he liked it or not, Kaylee was female. He'd learn that someday, she supposed.

Flipping through the book Spin had given her, Kaylee saw very few songs that she actually knew. Many of the carols she and her family had sung were in Chinese, and none of these seemed very familiar in English. She could probably at least get the tune right...

"Don't think I'm really in the place to pick," she admitted. "Just pick what ya like and I'll do my best to keep up with ya'll."

Haine's Residence:Aerith Gainsborough, Diva Missy, Silver the Hedgehog bark_n_bite January 5 2009, 16:46:54 UTC
Haine had been enjoying the return of his coffee. Even Badou would have called him an addict.

He watched the stuff they called "snow" fall outside his window, briefly thinking of Nill and how much she would have liked the stuff...not that he'd want her here, what with all the crabs and the monster out there.

Silver shivered a bit, shaking snow off the scarf he'd borrowed and the antlers he'd been corraled into wearing. He had no idea what they were for, but the girl handing them out had been forcefully enthusiastic, so he'd taken a pair.

He looked down at the map Spin had given him, then up at the address on the building. "This looks like the place." He stepped back, waiting for someone else to take the lead. He didn't know any of these songs, after all.

Aerith pulled her clothing tighter around her shoulders as they approached the residence. The antlers were beginning to dig into her scalp, but she knew it was for a good cause so she didn't complain about them.

When Silver stopped, she glanced down at the map as well, before nodding and thinking through the list of songs she knew. Or rather, the list she'd looked up as soon as she'd heard about all of this. Glancing around, she finally took the initiative and broke into a chorus of "Deck the Halls."

Voices pulled him out of his coffee lull. He opened the door to see a group of people he didn't know, more than half of them women, and they were singing.

Fighting off the initial urge to slam the door in their faces, Haine posed a single question.

"What are you doing?"

Bryant Park Hotel: Sora, America halfpuppet January 5 2009, 20:52:36 UTC
Ella was just about used to the snow by now, even though it had been much warmer in Kyrria before she'd found herself here. Still, it was frustrating. She knew she'd missed the giants' wedding by now, and with it her chance at meeting Lucinda.

She paced the lobby of the hotel, sighing. She didn't have much else to do at the time.

After receiving instructions and caroling partners from Spin, Sora instantly set off with Flonne's fake reindeer antlers in place. He hadn't met his singing partner before, but as long as he was willing to share the holiday spirit, Sora didn't mind caroling with someone new! It didn't take that long for him and America to make their way back to the hotel where he lived.

He actually didn't know quite a few of the Christmas carols that Spin had handed out (who knew that there were that many?) but he knew enough to get out several songs. As he walked into the lobby, with several sheets of Christmas music ready in his hands, he burst into song.

"Ohhhhh, you better watch out! You better not cry! You better not pout, I'm tellin' you why!"

America didn't mind the antlers, really. Sora seemed like a nice enough guy. He was pretty into the whole caroling thing, and America was fine with anyone as into the Christmas spirit as Sora seemed to be.

The girl standing in the lobby seemed surprised to see them, but that didn't stop America from joining in as Sora sang. He didn't need the lyrics sheet for this one.

"Santa Claus is coming to town! Oh, he's making a list and checking it twice, gonna find out who's naughty and nice!"

This was certainly a surprise. Ella stopped pacing and looked up at the carolers, her mopiness temporarily abated. Was this sort of thing common around here?

She couldn't help grinning, and didn't say a word. It wouldn't be very nice to interrupt their song, and she didn't know the words so she couldn't very well sing along.

It was great to be able to move again without getting sick or losing consciousness. Ashe, for her first time experiencing the holiday, was beginning to grow quite fond of it. All of the roommates were excited for it, and everyone as a whole had cheered up significantly since the food had arrived.

It didn't matter right now if the food was a trick or not, and in all honesty Ashe didn't really care. Everyone was too high in their excitement to be a spoilsport and drag them back down.

Gathering her blanket around her, she curled up on the couch in Celes' apartment and waited for her friend to return to the living room.

Flonne was all but bouncing with excitement as she headed up the street to the apartment they were to sing at. She hadn't been caroling in forever and this was going to be so much fun~!

It would be better if she didn't have to keep telling Laharl to put his antlers back on, but she figured she couldn't win them all.

She ran up to the door, checking its address with the one on the piece of paper Spin had given her. Finding them to be a match, she burst into enthusiastic and slightly off-key song.

"Dashing through the snow, in a one-horse open sleigh..."
