Billy hadn't underestimated the value of concrete walls in the bar he'd staked out as his home. When the monster came through, he was ducked in the back room under a table.

When the dust had cleared, he emerged out into the street to survey the devastation, his shotgun on his back. And devastating it was... entire neighborhoods in the distance lay flattened with the buildings reduced to piles of bricks and rubble.

He wasted no time in heading south to look for survivors. The able-bodied had an obligation to help the wounded and his bar was safe enough to take on any number of the needy.

Amazingly, though, it seemed few people had been injured. Crowds of residents stood outside what remained of their homes, stunned. Billy was about to head for them-- when he caught sight of something red sticking out of a pile of rubble. A closer look revealed it was a man-- and Billy wasted no time in getting over to him.

"Jesus," he muttered, "Hey, buddy, say something if you're alive."

A few blinks later, Auron realized two things. One: he likely had a gash on his forehead, as blood was dripping down into his eye, and two: his sunglasses were gone. Probably crushed beneath the rubble. He wondered whether or not the jug had been shattered as well.

He had begun to wonder if anyone was going to happen upon him. If he had to wait, so be it, he had enough to think about to pass the time, but he would much rather someone come across him. When the man finally seemed to spot him, Auron immediately trained his gaze on him.

His only response to the man's question was a low, humorless chuckle. Hopefully that would do well enough.

Well, he was alive.

Billy set aside his gun and climbed up the pile of rubble, shoving aside a few of the larger pieces surrounding the heavily injured man. He could already see blood streaming from a cut on his forehead, and judging by the way he was motionless, it was a lot worse than that.

He spared the man any more pointless questions and instead set to work finding the best way to remove the rubble without hurting him further. It was difficult even for a guy of Billy's stature, and it took ten minutes or so before the rubble was clear enough for the former Marine to take the wounded man's arm over his shoulder and pull him delicately out of the rubble, laying him on the clear street nearby. "Can you move at all?"

Auron would have shook his head, but he wasn't sure whether or not it was possible. "No," he said, short, to the point. He swallowed and wondered how much he was bleeding and what was broken.

"My... sword," he added, nodding in the blade's direction. He was right, it had been nearby. He could see the hilt sticking out of the rubble. Auron wasn't going to leave without it, especially for the aftermath. He'd only end up worse without it.
