The urgency of Fugaku's note to her only worried Dahlia. It did nothing to ease her nerves. She hated leaving things up to others, and yet she'd done just that. But aside from the man bandaging her shoulder in the first week after the Wolf attack, she had not seen, nor even talked to her hired help.

She told Iris she'd be locking up that night, cleaning helped soothed her nerves just a bit. She was so engrossed in her work that she didn't notice the presence of someone else (and she'd been expecting the bell to ding if someone had entered).

Fugaku shut the door quietly, easing it back into place so it didn’t make any noise, and scanned the room for people. He saw Dahlia immediately, cleaning. She didn’t see him. Fugaku almost smiled at that. Not always on her guard, was she? Too confident, but then, she’d hired him. Maybe it would work out.

Maybe. It would be seen.

“Dahlia-san,” he said coolly, to get her attention.

Dahlia stopped herself from jumping when Fugaku said her name. She dropped the rag she was using and glanced up at him. "Fugaku," she greeted him. She walked around the counter and crossed her arms under her bust.

"It's been a while. Take a seat?"

“I’ll stand.”

As always. He was wary, as was she. There was danger in this, and neither of them were great takers of unnecessary risks. But somehow, they’d come to an agreement, and if one of them broke it, there would be blood. Fugaku intended to see that it wasn’t his.
