River. Such a stupid name. Why not just name her Rock? Or Small Crying Thing? Or Thing-That-Came-And-Took-My-Old-Room?
Stupid River. Stupid babies. Stupid parents. Why should I give up my room anyway? It’s only a baby. It won’t care. And it’s small, it doesn’t need much room. They bought it a bassinet, that should be enough room for a baby.
I won’t go look at it. I don’t care what Father says, I’m not going to the hospital. Maybe they won’t show him the right room. Maybe there’ll be so many babies there, she’ll be lost. Who needs a sister anyway?
