Damp squib

Thankfully the tsunami turned into a tsunami on the way over to NZ and slightly dampened the beaches.

My thoughts still go out though to the people in American Samoa who lost their family members and homes.

And of course to those in Vietnam caught by the typhoon, and in the Phillipines devastated by the floods.

Bad week for natural disasters.

disaster, tsunami

I had to go down to the waterfront today for several hours; good planning, ;-) I heard an American asking about whether he should go to higher ground and asked what was going on. They were only predicting a meter-high swell at that stage, arriving around 11:30 so I wasn't worried, but I didn't notice anything at all.

Isn't almost every week a bad week? :-(

It's bad somewhere in the world every week, but I think this number of short sharp shocks is a little bit over the top.

i didn't hear about it until it was all over (due to lease signing and other Life Stuff), and was relieved to know all was good.

I was reading/watching/listening as it all unfolded, crossing my fingers and toes that it would peter out.
