People are greedy.

But then again, it's natural to want more. I haven't had a TV for 15 months and I up and bought a very nice one for $700 the other day. Do I need it? No. Could the money have been better spent on a charity? Yes. Does this make me a bad person? I hope not.

In perspective, people generally don't have the motivation to work harder to get more money if they know they're not going to keep some of it. I think it's allowable as long as a good proportion is being given to charities.

I understand that, and I have a bunch of things I could live without, also. But it isn't the $700 TVs that I see as the problem, its excessive wealth, like $2000 watches and Hummer stretch limos, and $500 pairs of shoes. These days $700 isn't that much. (I spend almost that much on rent and utilities alone) I understand the mindset that we have, especially in this country, but I just don't even know how the heck we got here.
