She's taken her false fall off, and now runs her fingers through her own hair, measuring the length of it -- past her chin now, it's been so long

Ganymede is passing by the open door, whistling. He only meant to glance in the open door, and only because it was open, but he gets caught in a stare in the doorway.

"And 'tis often done?" he asks.

[daintyswell]

She nods. "Nowadays it is. It used to be just a few of us."

[dukes_daughter]

"I've never heard the like!"

[daintyswell]

"No? Have you ever been to London?"

[dukes_daughter]

"I have not."

[daintyswell]

"You should. It's the best place I've ever been."

[dukes_daughter]

"Ay?" she asks, curious now. "Why?"

[daintyswell]

"There's any sort of person you could imagine there, doing just about anything they please. Everything's strange there, so nobody bats an eye. . . . Mostly."

"I think I should like it, too," he says with a laugh.

[daintyswell]

"What about you? Where're you from?" Nevermind that Kitty's not really from London. As far as she's concerned she's not "from" anywhere, so she may as well adopt the place she liked best.

[dukes_daughter]

"The forest of Arden," Ganymede replies. "In France."

[daintyswell]

"Oh. I, er. Can't say I've ever been. What's it like?"

[dukes_daughter]

"It may be something like your London, an what you say is true. Though thre are not many people."
