It's probably because tumblr has ridiculously low limits on individual gif filesize. That's why tumblr gifs are never as good quality as LJ gifs hosted by tinypic or something.

AS far as I can tell it is done on purpose by the person who made it. I had to save it as three separate pictures. I am newish to Tumblr, I still don't really get it xD
