So, how do you guys feel about music reviews

I like friends reviews (like dubnobasswithme when they say.. if you like this style/type/genre you really might like to try this band as I feel this was teh strongpoint/style/etc. I guess more of a recommendation than a review, but those are the ones I find most useful.

Agree. The kind of review that discovers something good is more rewarding than one that tries to assess the merits of something the reviewer is not particularly passionate about.

In general, i find music reviews to be largely worthless. There is the rare exception to that, and even that falls by the way side when confronted with the actual music. Maybe it's just me, but music speaks to me louder then written word (about music anyways).

Possible exception to music reviews: Kattoo's Megram - life's sound track. rather fitting.

Well, yes, but you have the luxury of opening most new releases and listening to them in full shortly after they come out. When you can just as easily listen to the album as read a review, the review is kind of pointless.
