So, on Sunday Sept. 7th - you see how hot and up to date the content is here - the fencing club had an afternoon excursion on the St. Lawrence II, Kingston's sail training brigantine, and, well I wouldn't be posting about it if I hadn't gone, would I?

Most unfortunately, daily disinterest has me noticing the guy with the Dany Heatley #15 shirt above all. My mind laughed.
Boats. They kick ass. Because they're on the sea. And the sea's fun. Oh yes very. :3

WooooW! Coool!! I saw the St Lawrence II when she came to Cork for the Tall Ships Race the time before last. Handsome! The brigantine's were the most spectacular of the ships with their sails set.
Doesn't the ship look a lot smaller when looking at it from above. Eep!

(does a bunch of internetting) Was that race in 2005? I think saw the first ASTA Tall Ships Challenge Race in 2001, when they came to Kingston, me being here in the summer on holiday from Japan. I could just be making that up though.
They were on the Pacific Coast this year - next year is going to be transatlantic, finishing in Belfast. Then 2010 is back to the Great Lakes, with a stop in Kingston - I hope I'm around to see it!

The Tall Ships came to Copenhagen in 1988 when I was working there as a student, cleaning my way through the summer. Bizarrely I was cleaning the Royal Yacht Club. Came away with a good few souvenirs of the race that were thrown out at the end - ash trays, towels etc.. Copenhagen has an amazing inner harbour that stretches right down past the royal palace and into the heart of the city and the quays were lined with gorgeous ships, including two enormous Russian jobs that were too deep draft to get into the inner harbour and had to be viewed from the naval base.
