It'd be cool if Ballard is her boyfriend/fiance and is searching for her, but the only clue he has is the possible existance of the Dollhouse. Uh-oh. I'm already trying to ship the characters of a show on FOX they may or may not be axed.
Dollhouse does seem like the Alias premise, minus everything that made Alias compelling. To be honest, it kind of reminds me of those vapid Cinemax porn series--something that aims to be sexy, but that utterly misses the mark.
I also question Fox's marketing strategy--it's like they think that the audience for TSCC and Dollhouse are frat boys. (The pairing of these shows is also strange--Dollhouse is way out of its league in that comparison.)

I keep coming back to family connections and how they really do make for some of the most interesting drama

You may be right, but I hope not. They should have some established ship in this show, if it lasts that long, that is.
