Today when I popped onto the livejournal front page I noticed a featured community that was all about encouraging people to read fifty books in one year, much in the same way that events such as Nanowrimo encourage people to write a 150k page book ( Read more... )

You have time to read non school books? I can't bring my self to read a fun book when I have other reading I should be .. well reading. Now that is way more then 50 book a year, more like 2-30 books a month (well 3 or 4 or 5 25-50 page articals = a short book), but that means I only read less then 4 fun books most years now. (and it's hard to read when your getting home from school at 1am and going back at 8 am ( ... )

If any of those folks actually finish their 150,000 page book, I'd like to see the finished product--not read it, just see it. :)

I've read a few of the end-products of the Nano rush, and some of it can be quite good.

Of course the rest is about what you'd expect from an exercise, but my creative writing professors always seem to think that just writing something is a victory in and of itself.

50,000 words. I made it to 27,000 or so. 50 books a year though, that is a lot, with school and all. Do picture books count?
