She was exhausted.

She hadn't been to sleep in at least thirty-six hours. First the case she was working, and then everything that had happened with her dad, but she was good and seeming lucid when she probably wasn't. It involved a lot of coffee and actually being on her feet, but that wasn't really relevant at the moment.

Cole was laying in bed beside Haley, fully clothed. Her being there was what kept him there. The only other place he wanted to go was to see his dad, but he knew nearly everyone was at the hospital, and he wanted to wait until it was quieter.

His lips were against the side of her forehead, and his hand was brushing her stomach softly.

He jumped a mile when the knocking came at the door. He groaned softly.

"I'm gonna go," he said with an eye roll. "He's got enough people there right now."

"Okay," she sighed, stretching out her shoulders to hold back yawn. Rolling her shoulders a bit, she turned back to him with a nod. "As you were."

He nodded back. "Okay."

She nodded before heading off. "See you later, Cole."

He closed his eyes and leaned out the door to call after her. "Do you wanna come in?"

She glanced back at him, before shaking her head. "I've been on my feet for thirty-six hours straight. I'm about ready to go home and crash hard. It's cool."

He nodded. "Okay." He watched her go, then closed the door and went back to the bedroom. He crawled onto the bed and settled back in beside Haley.
