Mai lasa-ma - Nicu Alifantis (Never leave me)

I beg to differ, sadly. "Mai" doesn't mean "never" in Romanian, but it's a sort of a modifying adverb. "Nu mai vreau asta" means "I don't want this anymore" while "mai vino pe la mine" would mean something like "come visit me sometime / again". So "mai lasa-ma" would mean something like a softened version of "leave me [alone]", "give me a break". ;)

Thank you! This is one of these cases where my Italian hits my Romanian over the head and runs away with a sentence ;). Theoretically I know that in Romanian "mai" doesn't mean "never", like in Italian, but practically the "never" always insinuates itself in the meaning! (I have a similar problem with "macar", where in Italian "magari" means "hopefully", which certainly is not the same thing than the Romanian meaning, but I just can't get that into my head. False friends!) I did interprete it as if the "Nu" was missing and it meant something like "don't leave me any more".
Heheh..now who tells Dan that my mp3 player told me to tell him to give me a break, LOL!

I figured it was a case of false friends, but I tend to get pedantic just in case. ;)

No one's telling him! *shushes world* The other song (Tu esti tot ce am) was very welcoming anyway. ;)
