I was JUST talking about adding a profile for my dad to my account. My parents don't watch dvds enough to warrant their own account, but I know there are things they'd like to be able to rent. It's only like 2 extra dollars a month to add a 4th movie, so i was going to do that.

I admit, it is a pain in the rear when you control all of them and have to log in and out, but it's not enough of a pain to require any amount of complaining. You're totally right - they should revamp it so you can have several queues at once. They've already got the programming for this partially in place - the DVD queue and Instant Queue. Why not just have an "all" and then let you separate others?

You're not kidding there...

I already have to shuffle my list around a bit to not be inundated with one series at a time. And I've only got 2 lists to integrate. Have you dropped them a complaint e-mail yet? I am *highly* considering it myself.

There's not the logging in/out issue if the queues are managed on different machines / browsers. I mean, to use their VoD service they make you use the inferior PoS anyhow...

Irritating is definitely the word I'd use...

I forgot to mention something I think you alluded to - recommendations based on user ratings. Are there still going to be separate lists for that or are they completely hosing that as well?

The two people on my account have rather different tastes, some of which are disparate. *shakes his head*

Hosed as of now.

One of the blogs or other such employee contact did imply something MIGHT be available at a later date, but everyone that gets a head start on switching (which must be done manually, so not a bad idea otherwise) _will_ be hosed!

If they don't do something before September, we're all hosed and then get something similar to start over with after dilution has occurred.

Rumors were flying on the comments that this is part of a conspiracy to kill the DVD shipping in favor of the broadcasted movies. If true, many of the DVDs I want to see will never be seen due to licensing and some eclectic tastes that will not be at the top of the transfer queue.

I still say that they should be separate entities. With DVD not getting Broadcast free anymore. I think they are both viable businesses that would benefit from the lack of distraction.

Several polite emails. One on each of their forums of contact that I could find. I lost the links in the process, but the blog was the starting point.

The multiple PCs work-around only applies to those of us with multiple PCs. Of course, those with multiple PCs are likely not confused either way. ;-)

At first, all the other queue ratings will disappear on Sept. 1. Then as the single queue is used, the ratings will be diluted, making the recommendations less accurate for everyone.
