The levee has broken after a night of Americana   .....the writing will come.

When you were a kid you went to the movies and it was a big day in the life of a say.......a 10 year old.  We got into the cimema for .50. When ticket prices hit a buck, when I was teen, we were pissed. Gasoline was also about .50 way back then in the early 70's.  Yes, I'm ( Read more... )

I don't go to theaters to see movies either, although cost is pretty far down on the list of my reasons not to go. (Crying children, their chatty parents discussing the movie, sticky floors and the fact that I frequently like to eat a meal while watching rank higher for me. . .)

And I also get movies from Netflix, so I can indulge my arcane passion for documentaries quite easily. The one I just returned was Mystic River, a drama with Kevin Bacon and Sean Penn. I liked it for its disturbing conclusion. . .a look into the mind of a parent in a "what if" situation.

I liked Mystic River. Sean Penn and Tom Robbins are very good in that film plus many others.

The ticket price doesn't keep me away from the theatre but I do consider the $9.50 X 2 + drinks and maybe a $5 snack and ask myself ....... Is this movie worth it?
The kiddies and crowds aren't much of an issue unless you see the movies kiddies like.

I don't even remember the last time I entered a theater for many of the reasons you and Sharp said. However I own almost every Quentin Tarantino film!

Tarantino produced a movie directed by Roger Avery called Killing Zoe. Have you seen it? It came out between Resevoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction. I saw it one time many years back. It was good enough to see again so I netflixed it.

A new verb.....netflixed.

It's a bank robbery gone wrong plot, set in Paris with the signature Tarantino shoot outs and violence. The best thing about his films is the dialogue and character development. He's one of the few that mixes action, violence, good acting and characters you actually find interesting.
