Happy Same Year

The holiday season is officially over. Alarm clocks are set for the working hour. We get paid by those who learn from our mistakes. Oh my...ex-marital, co-parenting relationship drama...I can hardly wait.

For your sake, as well as that of your sons, I hope my wait is a long one.

Sorry, but I'm going to follow the fucking media lemmings. My last 10 years have mostly reeked and I'll take any excuse to believe a new pattern will emerge with a new decade. But then, I often have magical thinking. Not so much believing in magical experiences (which I do), but the superstition that new things bring different outcomes. And yes, I know I can make that happen at any time. It just seems good change seems to come in spaces that I can mark. Kind of like lucky items when gambling.

Sometimes it seems like we grab on to whatever marker will end a period of hard times and bring hope for new and better. It's slow not instantaneous; but it's the hope that keeps us going.

Keep the positive energy. If I get extra I will send some your way.

I am so with you on this. The year end hooplah, like the 2 preceding holidays, feels artificial, scripted, rote. The numbers changed, from the year of our Lord, one more. I don't like all the lists you read about everywhere, why? What has ended? Nothing that doesn't end every minute of everyday. Die to the past, every minute.

Please, drink everyday, not just on your day off Mondays. Any given paid day off from work though, is sacred.

Love that monkey with his tall boy. He doesn't look at the calendar and decide to celebrate.
