Bernie

I'm all for Bernie Sanders.

I'd be saying much more about it here if Live Journal was like Live Journal was in 2008, when I was all for Obama and talked about it on here a few times every day.

So, go Bernie!

We are expecting we will get our absentee ballot in time to vote for Bernie here in CA before we move, and enough time to register to vote in the ... real? election in November to vote OUT the lousy NC governor.

I had the experience of moving from North Carolina after voting in their primary in 1992, and the general election in Indiana. I don't recall who was still running in the 92 Democratic primary, although I'd originally backed Tsongas. That fall, I half-heartedly voted for Bill Clinton.

I really, really like Bernie. But I'm voting for Clinton. I think she's better qualified, and it's time for a woman president. Women have been smacked down long enough in this country. I've lived through it, and I'm sick of it. The glass ceiling needs to be shattered. It's past time. Our daughters need this NOW. Not later. Not some time in the future. NOW.

American politics is bewildering to non-Americans - you guys have the most incredibly complicated electoral system anyone could possible devise.

So does Sanders actually have any chance? The impression we're getting here is that Clinton has the nomination locked up. Sanders looks to me to be a much better choice.

As a non-American I'd like to see a President who won't start World War 3! Some of the candidates seem pretty scary.

It's an amazing election year for us, but the same was said in 2008, when it was repeated over and over that Obama couldn't get the nomination, and then that U.S. voters wouldn't elect a black president. In other words, I think it's still possible. Sanders' polling figures have been getting increasingly better in all of the states that have yet to have primaries, including Pennsylvania, where I live.

The complicated nature of American politics has much to do with having fifty states, each having its own idiosyncrasies and within each state, each county having its quirks, and even within the counties, there are townships, wards, etc., having their peculiar traits. I'm surprised there's as much agreement as they manage to achieve.

I agree! Bernie is amazing. He's been doing so well the past few weeks and I am so proud and hopeful.
