Are Live Journal posts censored for political reasons in Russia? Because Live Journal has been owned by a Russian company for the past several years, and because there have been been many stories in the news about violent oppression of journalists in that country, I am wondering how free people in Russia are to post in Live Journal about their ( Read more... )

So, from what I understand, livejournal is one bastion of free speech in Russia. That is why it is so frequently down due to DDS attacks.

Then again, you have Russians like Alexei Navalny, whose Live Journal posts truly have been blocked in Russia.

I believe the Russian LJ can print this article.
Russian authorities' actions are irrational and unpredictable.
Today, your article may be ignored. But at other times you can be arrested for extremism.
Alexei Navalny speaks against specific officials. Therefore, his journal is locked.

There is no such law. But Alexei Navalny is under house arrest. He faced another charge. But everyone understands that in fact he is under house arrest because criticizing officials.
