18 months

Hard to believe, but the munchkin turned 18 months old yesterday. He is such a trip these days: giving hugs (with accompanying "awwwwwwwwwww" sound) on request and of his own volition, talking up a storm, and just generally cracking us up. As always, it’s time for a little photo catch-up.

Nathaniel posing with the awesomely crafty gift my sister made him:

My very dear friend Jennifer came to visit a few weeks ago. She commented on how I am always doing something. I just said that it’s the effect of parenthood: I am always doing something because I never seem to be able to do things efficiently, at least not while my kid is awake, so it takes me forever to spread out everything that needs to get done. While I was hanging some laundry on the line, Jennifer gathered some of the concord grapes we have growing:

And offered some to Nathaniel:

Who quickly warmed up, because he is a fruit-hound

Chillin’ on a turtle in the park

The kid gets some pretty fantastic bedhead. Here he is with his favorite toy, which he grabs every morning: “moop” (broom)

We went on our traditional Columbus Day weekend camping trip. Here’s our campsite in the Pittsfield State Forest (Pittsfield, Ma). It was beautiful and private, but a bit scary with a toddler: we had a pretty hilly site, and a stream just downhill that you could walk to. Nathaniel kept saying “water” and wanting to go down to the stream. Luckily he listens pretty well, but I still had to be vigilant so he wouldn’t try to take off by himself and tumble downhill to the stream. Ack!

Playing with mama’s phone in the tent. I finally learned how to lock my new phone.

It was cold but beautiful. Baby legwarmers are the best thing for dressing baby warm! I don’t have to worry about cold legs when his pants inevitably get hiked up.
