(a) three facts about them from my personal canon/fanon
1. Walter lives (lived?) for his sense of duty; to him, he has absolutely nothing left. He feels responsible for the Merines and, through her, all of the Ferines. However, he also suffers from an a deep inferiority complex; that he, in fact, is not worthy of protecting the Merines. As a result, he takes it very hard when he realizes that the Merines would rather be protected by Senel, going as far as throwing away his life to try and fulfill his duty.
2. Walter was sheltered by his grandmother as a child, and he was never greatly attached to his father. But he did admire his father, and wanted to be as cool and serious and dependable as his father. Most of what he tries to show himself to be is him trying to be like his father.
3. Walter snapped while he stayed in the ruins for a week, from a mixture of despair, anger, and the phantom sounds of the dead baby he couldn't save. He literally had nightmares every time he went to ( ... )

1. Estell is a flirt. Unlike little brother dearest, Estell has a girlfriend and thus can rein in his flirty attitude from time to time. But he still rarely does, since it's fun to do and always helps him laugh.
2. Estell, if he ever needs to fight, can fight with a staff (kinda like Maurits, except without all the awesome breakdancing). He much prefers using his teriques and crystal eres over physical fighting, though.
3. Estell cooks, cleans, does laundry, and is good with kids. He's the perfect stay-at-home dad. But despite this, he's actually nervous about having his own kids. Probably because he half-feels he's still a kid because he's lacked the chance the be a kid.

(a) three facts about them from my personal canon/fanon
1. Walter lost approximately 30% of his breathing capacity while he was imprisoned on the Legacy. He was exposed to poisons when Cashel experimented on Ferines breathing ability by submerging him in water of varying levels of toxicity. As a result, he has trouble with overexerting himself and needed to be healed to relieve hemorrhaging in his lungs.
2. Walter wasn't really meant to inherit the Merines' teriques. That honor in fact goes to Stella, who was also drawn to the Legacy by Shirley's will. Unfortunately, inheriting the Merines' teriques meant having to through some sort of separation of their own teriques, and there was never a good situation for Stella to undergo this process (especially with Senel always risking life and limb to save her). Walter's shattered teriques left the Merines in the precarious state of either staying with her original plans or just letting Walter die -- and she made the choice to save his life by taking his shattered ( ... )

1. Chloe Valens -- Naturally, the other choice in love interest would the second companion that Walter joins up with. But alas, the chemistry was early on strained by their mutual distrust of opening up to strangers. They grow out of the distrust as they learn more about each other -- from Walter being found out as a Ferines to Chloe revealing she was once Gadorian nobility and not simply a "crazy knight wannabe" -- and soon begin to rely on each other's support in much the same way Senel and Chloe did in the canon storyline. However, Norma's presence greatly changes any romantic dynamic; Norma has been Walter's friend longer and known him much longer, and Chloe acknowledges this far before she recognizes any sort of romantic affection for him.
On his part, Walter simply doesn't understand women and is oblivious to the very idea of having a crush on Chloe.
