Quick run down of stuff I've been seeing, just in case anyone would like to chat about it :D

- Arcadia (by Tom Stoppard) at the Opera House - it featured one of the lead actors from Holding the Man (Ryan Corr), and I wanted to see whether he could actually do stage. Turns out that he can, as could everyone else up there, which was nice. I'm not ( Read more... )

How could I have not watched "The Devil of Winterbourne"? A glimpse at Mark Gatiss’ psyche must be...um...very entertaining.

It's a scary place! Apart from the public school boys ;)

I adore Clone!

The boy also thought Emmett was going to be more of a bad guy in Cloverfield. And I agree that Howard saw Michelle as a daughter replacement, and therefore probably would never have raped her... but that doesn't necessarily mean (to me) that he wouldn't harm her. I thought he was far too unstable to be trusted, even if one assumed the best of intentions.

I spent most of the movie thinking about how I would have handled the situation if I'd been Michelle. I definitely would have bided my time a LOT more and tried to win Howard's trust before I made any move. But Michelle seemed unwilling to go 30 seconds without hatching a plan and putting it into action. (To be fair, if I'd been in Michelle's place, the movie would have been a lot slower and duller...)

Clone is like the televisual equivalent of perfect summer reading - just sit back and let the silliness wash over you *g*

but that doesn't necessarily mean (to me) that he wouldn't harm her.

Actually, I agree with this - over time, it's very likely something might have tipped him over into violence of some description anyway - the resemblance would only take her so far. But as you mention it's so heavily biased towards "action", she obviously couldn't afford to, you know, chill. Some movies are more complicated than they need to be; I though this one was less complicated than it needed to be *g*

...yeah, I'm afraid that from a personal point of view once I was convinced that it was dangerous outside, I'd probably have just made the best of it. Or at least set out to kill him with a great deal more long-range planning!

How far into The Night Manager are you? I'm wondering if the real evil of Hugh's character is still to come for you.

Hmmm, I think the end of ep4? Honestly, I could barely tell you what's going on. Hiddles is in Roper's employ and having an affair with his wife/gf/whatever. And there's some spectacular and imo utterly stupid and wasteful arms demonstration that looks like it took up the entire shipment of stuff. Um, people are panicking at Whitehall. You can tell I'm not completely engaged *g*

The Night Manager bored me senseless, beautiful as Hiddles is. The role of women was so infuriating, but that's le Carre all over, I guess. -_-

Hee - I just realised from the comment above that I actually care so little I have no idea what's going on. I'm just watching Hiddles' prettiness, Hugh's evilness, Debicki's gorgeousness and Colman's grumpiness. And the scenery. There's a story in there somewhere, I'm sure.

They completely lost me at the beginning with the exotic femme fatale, the one that Hiddles for some bizarre reason felt compelled to usher to a safe house (and who's minding the hotel, might I ask?) and then for some bizarre reason COMES BACK just so that she can die, and Hiddles can shed manly tears over her. It could only really go uphill from there. Relatively speaking *g*

Also: it's lovely to see you around and hope things are working themselves out!
