London Spy and Spectre (or, I see Ben Whishaw everywhere)

London Spy. If you're not watching it, you should be. It's a five-part mini-series from the BBC (who else). Now, I am not the slightest bit interested in spies (yawn), or Ben Whishaw for that matter - the only reason I was even mildly interested to begin with is that Mark Gatiss is in it, only he hasn't shown up yet. BUT THIS SHOW, GUYS. It's a ( Read more... )

London Spies were on my must-see list since I've first heard of it. Can't wait till I have some free time to start watching it. I believe I would like it as much as you do.

Oh, I hope you do! I admit, I was doubtful whether I was going to bother watching it at all ;)

LOL, THE PRESSURE *g*. I do hope you like it - I still can't wait to see Mark, but I'd still be watching regardless. I almost fear the combination will be too much *g*

I watched it! I'm all caught up now, and OMG *squees* Wow, well, I somehow had assumed that there would be more, you know, spying involved, especially in the beginning I was all 'but why is it a gay love story, wait, it's a gay love story, why am I complaining about this!' *g* So many young!Mycroft AU feels, I just, I can't *holds her hand on her chest* And then the second episode with that deliciously creepy house and the parents, oh, I love it, love it! :)

LOL - I had no idea, I was all, "well, if Mark's going to be in it, I guess I'll TRY it" because I'm not a huge fan of spy stuff. I'm still amused by the thought of some staid viewer thinking they were tuning in for a standard spy thriller and getting that intead.

o many young!Mycroft AU feels, I just, I can't *holds her hand on her chest*

I KNOW, RIGHT? I know Danny is the 'star', but I live for glimpses of Alex. Sigh. Hoping for Mark (finally) next week! :D

Whoa, okay, I'm in and will get back with you once I've watched London Spy! Thanks for the rec!

And Spectre--yup, a solid "meh" for me. I felt Andrew Scott was underused, and while I kind of like that James Bond has been embracing his psychopathic side in this series (fine with sleeping with anybody or killing anybody for information, etc.) and showing how that makes a person empty inside, this movie was too long and too...lifeless, I guess?

Love to hear what you think, although I'm afraid I have no critical faculties at all for this one - I'm sure it has faults, BUT I DON'T CARE. LOL.

Yes! I could have done with a lot more Andrew Scott, he had so much more presence than the main villain imo, who just felt like a big bad accountant (sorry, accountants). And there were definitely long stretches where nothing much seemed to be happening *g*

I really hope you'll like it! I normally have some critical distance from things, but I'm afraid that's just not happening *g*

GOOD LORD. Watched the first two eps. It's like REALLY BOSS fanfic, isn't it? I'm going to have to make a post about it with plot spoilers under a cut - don't want to spoil anyone reading these comments! But yeah, dear me, dear ME. :D

Eee, and YES! I had the same "fanfic" thought myself, but as you say, in the REALLY GOOD way. LOL. I'm still not quite sure how it made it on TV. Not that I'm complaining <3

Looking forward to reading your thoughts :D
