Fic: All The Towers Of Ivory Are Crumbling (Mycroft/Sherlock, NC-17)

While I'm here, I thought I'd mention I've also made a couple of Coriolanus Menenius/Mark gifsets, viewable on tumblr:

- Menenius pleading with Coriolanus. "Oh my son, my son! Thou art preparing fire for us; look thee, here’s water to quench it." Guuuuh. I may be ever-so-slightly taken with Menenius. My poor baby.
- Menenius' and Mycroft's belly Read more... )

Oooh, seriously, please report back on the movie! When I first heard about it I was all 'Miyazaki and aviation, awesome', but then I read a few reviews which were all 'this is the most boring thing I have ever seen'. So I've decided against seeing it but would love some further input on whether I should reconsider. It's this or the Lance Armstrong documentary *g*

So... can I take from that that a) you found it dull and b) you didn't like it? (I asking because 'not a happy movie' doesn't necessarily mean 'bad movie' but is it more that you didn't expect it to be like that? I admit, the trailers are very whimsical-looking although I've heard they're Very Misleading). Angst I can handle; dull may be beyond me *g*. Really appreciate the review, though!

Well... I'm not a Mycroft/Sherlock girl, my preference being for platonically obsessive Johnlock, but after watching Season 3, I agree that this had to be written, and well done.

Of course, Mycroft wryly reflected, for normal people, the attempted murder would have been the unsettling bit, not the wedding itself. However, the former was likely the only part Sherlock had truly enjoyed.
Hahahahaha, so true!

It was the resurrection of an old ritual. While they had both been taught the basics of formal dance at school, in later years Mycroft had needed to refine his skills for work-related events. Sherlock had proved a surprisingly willing partner, despite the necessity that he always play “the girl”. They had never done anything more than dance, not then, but the intimacy of it had seemed something they’d both longed for. Perhaps, in hindsight, even where it had all begun.
I like this idea a lot, actually. There's a reason why conservative Christian sects ban dancing ;).

His memory of the first time, as sharp as ever: naked, aroused, ( ... )

Given that this is really not your thing, I'm really happy you gave it a try! Mycroft does rather seem the 'obvious' person to be there for Sherlock after the wedding, under the circumstances. Even if he wouldn't charter a plane to be at the 'night do'...

I firmly believe Mycroft is an excellent dancer, even if not quite as agile as Sherlock *g*

Thanks so much for reading and for your lovely comments ♥

This is everything I've ever wanted from Holmescest and easily the best thing that's come of Season 3 for me. Absolutely marvellous from first to last.

I have a thing for tragic misunderstandings and there were definitely enough of those here to satisfy all my cravings. What makes it so good and convincing is that Sherlock and Mycroft both have a point, Sherlock when he says “You wouldn’t know simple truth if it paraded in front of you wearing a signboard.” and Mycroft when he argues that he is a simple man after all because for him, everything always about Sherlock ( ... )

Not normally a Mycroft/Sherlock girl either but this was wonderful! You really got their voices down :)

Awesome!

Yay, and thank you for reading! So glad you thought the voices worked - some fics are more difficult than others, but they were quite insistent in this one *g*

I think for me this is a little sappier and perhaps more Sherlock-oriented than usual, but I had so many leftover S3 emotions I didn't know what to do with *g*. I do think John's influence on Sherlock (whichever interpretation you choose to put on it) is absolutely undeniable, even for the most ardent of alternative shippers.

I was so surprised and pleased by this, thank you! That's very high praise indeed, and I'm so glad you enjoyed it. :D

Well, I'll never be entirely happy with S3 but it has certainly already resulted in some damn good fic and this one was astoundingly beautiful.
Your prose, as ever, is exquisite and you use it here to draw so many lovely images. To have them dancing together, what a wonderful idea. I can just see them, full of grace.
I felt so for Mycroft in this fic, always reigning in his true feelings. Of course that's part of being Mycroft Holmes, but still. Thank god Sherlock is not a total moron.
Totally wonderful. Thank you for writing this.

I have seen them dancing in other fics, but not at Baker St and not to Sherlock's waltz, so I hoped it was different enough from other versions. I would love to see Mycroft dance - it'd be a gorgeous sight. With Sherlock would of course be even better *g*

Anyway, thank you so much! This was more sappy and Sherlock-oriented than normal, I think, but I'm pleased you enjoyed it.

Oh, not too sappy for this sentimental heart.
Actually yes, you rather outdid yourself with lovely Sherlock descriptions in this fic, more than usual. Not that I minded. *g*
