1. Amused for no particular reason to discover Sydney will be getting its own production of Nick Dear's Frankenstein. I'm not that keen, mainly because I've never heard of any of the cast - not always a bad thing, but I'm not sure the play is enough of a drawcard in and of itself. It looks like a completely new production, including original music ( Read more... )

I got a postcard! (That was totally unexpected; thanks!) I haven't watched the new Red Dwarf (not having TV anymore), but judging from what you've said, I think I'll avoid it. It sounds like it's about on the same level as "Return to Earth," which I didn't enjoy at all. I'll just rewatch my DVDs of the "classic" RD, in which Lister and Rimmer are forever young.

Glad you got it; I thought I had your address, so why not :)

I have mixed feelings about it, but I'm watching. I'll let you know if anything unmissable happens ;)

I got my postcard too! (Did I ever say thanks? I'm a pig. *g*)

Also! I will be wearing denim tomorrow, covering my genitals.

...I'm not sure? I'll just pretend, shall I? ;P

*thinks up and tactfully decides not to use many pervy remarks based on your state of dress and its potential impact on future prospective dates*

Personally, I'd say Frankenstein really isn't worth it for the play alone. BC was ill the day I saw it so it was just JLM and I thought it was a fairly awful play to be honest. I went back to try and see BC in it another time but 'sicknote Cumberbatch' was ill AGAIN that night (and it was weeks later!) and I couldn't face sitting through the play again without him in it as it's really just a not very good play - so I went out to dinner with a friend instead. They were naked in it at the NT though! LOL! Which made me worry about their 'bits' because there was a lot of dragging along the floor at one point ( ... )

I tend to agree re Frankenstein - I have a lot of warm feelings for it, but they're mostly bound up in the Cumberbatch and JLM *g* and I find the play itself very uneven; some really outstandingly lovely lines and phrases, but slightly muddled characters and oddly random bits of dialogue. It's even more obvious when you read it, although the NT staging did its distracting best to compensate. And we heard ALL about the nakedness, clearly! LOL ( ... )
