his face unreadable. Or at least it was typeset in a very different font from the ones Martin was used to.
I have never read a take like this on "unreadable" before and as soon as I read it, I wondered why on earth not. It's brilliant and it seems so fitting and perfect. Facial expressions really are as minute as typewritten letters, all those tiny muscles and the way each of them is held to have its own particular meaning, all adding up to the mystery that is Mycroft.
I love that Martin got looked at that way. Really love it.
Hee, and thank you for that as well. I came up with a lot of fairly random asides out of sheer desperation, but I rather liked that one *g*. I haven't written much for a while, and this is an odd little fic so I really appreciate the feedback ♥
That was fabulous. I loved the striptease, the eroticism of the whole uncertain situation, and something about the lap-sitting really kicked my engine over. Your Mycroft is outstanding, both calculating and distantly compassionate, and I adored the musings about Sherlock and how very different Martin is. Really excellent piece - sticking this one in my memories, thanks!
I've honestly never paid much attention to Mycroft (I do love your icon, though!) so I have no idea why it suddenly seemed like a good idea to pair him with Martin. A combination of sublimated incest!kink and... other things I suspect *g*. Thanks very much for the comments and the mem - I'm so pleased you enjoyed it :)
This was a lovely suprise - thank you for the comment! It's a bit of an odd pairing, I know, lol, so I'm glad it worked for you. I do appreciate the feedback very much, and will post to the comms soon :)
Instinctively, Martin glanced to his right for Douglas before pulling himself together.
Hahaha, this is such a Martin thing to do, looking for Douglas when someone calls for the captain. I like how he finds himself wishing that Douglas were there during his meeting with Mycroft. Speaking of Mycroft, it’s so fascinating to see him here from Martin’s outsider perspective. I like that neither is really what the other man had expected. It’s also really interesting that they’re both kind of imagining that they’re with another person.
As usual, what had initially seemed like the answer to his problems had turned out to be only the precursor to a whole host of new and even bigger ones.
Yup, that sounds exactly like Martin. That and being so careful with his uniform as he takes it off. :)
It was an odd expression, not so much leering as… wistful. Is this Mycroft missing Sherlock, wishing for him? It seems to me that Mycroft is very careful about repeating Martin’s name aloud
( ... )
Thanks so much for the comments! It's a weird fic; when I say I have no idea where it came from, I really meant it, lol.
It's true about the whole substitution thing; really it's more of a threesome - or even a foursome, lol. All sorts of twisted things going on there, really. I see Mycroft's background relationship with Sherlock as just ridiculously complicated, but yes, I'd say he misses him. I'd tell you that the idea of Mycroft/Sherlock squicks me, because in a way it really does, but I suspect I'd be secretly lying *g*
It's lovely of you to be so thoughtful - thanks again ♥

And the ending. Cackle and gasp. Just perfect.
Wow, you're really good.

I really enjoyed this. I thought it was fantastic. Your Martin is perfect. :D
You shouldn't be nervous about putting it up in any of the larger communities (or you could always put it in a smaller one like our_bbcsherlock).
