There are things that once seen, can never be forgotten.
Dawn lay alone in the brass-bound double bed, unable to sleep. Nick’s farewell party had been a disaster that had ended in tears and screaming, and that was just the adults. While she had been mostly able to brush off Gary’s vindictiveness and Nick’s retaliatory fury, it was David’s behaviour

I am now left with a strong desire to have you write a fanfic for The Longest Journey (the novel), or rather several: one Rickie/Gerald, one Rickie/Gerald/Agnes (both BDSM) and one (or more) Rickie/Stephen. Because the themes are so similar, and that book is one I love.

Movie-wise, I do think Nick ended up being the most sympathetic of the characters; they were all fairly screwed-up, but he had better excuses!
And you had me at E M Forster (I've read a few of his other works, most notably the gorgeous Maurice, but not that one). I am in fact so intrigued I've just put a hold on a copy at the library. Will report back *g*

It was only years later that I realized I had read something by E M Forster in middle school (in Italian), the made-of-awesome Science Fiction short story The Machine Stops. The man was a genius.
Looking forward to your opinion of The Longest Journey.

So obviously I wasn't the only one who noticed the excessive touching between the two brothers ;) - and of course that "he owned me" remark by Nick left a lot of room for interpretation too. I like how you bring David's darker side to the fore here, his conflicting feelings for his brother, who still seems to be stuck in his "younger brother adoring older brother" phase, with a little resentment lingering probably from all the things they were both claiming the other had done. And Dawn is a passive character in many ways, which you kept true here.
Very nice! I do hope there will be some more Wreckers fic! I enjoyed seeing Benedict play such an ambiguous character, sometimes almost vibrating with barely restrained violence.

I think I felt most for Nick rather than David, but I really did adore the mix of darkness and light in David; it was an interesting and complex character, with a lot of subtle emotional undercurrents. I did feel that BC was perhaps a little bit too instinctively well-bred for it to be a natural fit, but I loved watching him try. On the other hand there was a lot of emotional repression going on, which was a strength.
Thanks for reading and for the comment :)
