People on my friends' list have given me a helpful critique of my idea for My Dream App, which I'm quite grateful for, and I am looking forward to seeing how my idea does in the first round of the contest ( Read more... )

catbear and I are just back from the computer store where he bought an iMac to debug some plugins he's been writing for Bibble. The plugins have a useful free version and an even-more-useful buy-me-a-lunch version. A hundred Mac users buying his software would pay off the cost of the hardware, but more importantly (if I understand correctly) he'll improve his standing in the user community by having software that works well on all platforms.

Some of the plugins he's working on are better ways of doing things there is already a plugin for.

The Open Source software that suits your need is what you're going to find up using (though I sometimes sadly shake my head at the twisty paths of software development and deployment around That University Place). And, as melted_snowball pointed out, not obsess. ;)

I've not said so to either of ya, but I think photi.ca is pretty spiffy!

Well, if this app idea of your is so great, and you DO decide to write it yourself, would you share a copy with me?.... Midwinter Gathering is still months away, so you have time to work on it... :-)

Now see, if you had a lj user-id, you'd be on my friends list, and you'd be able to see the post where I talked about this idea last week. :)

No pressure though. ;)
