Trying to get first years to understand Euthyphro's dilemma is bit like herding cats. They are so bloody indoctrinated that they can't process the notion of morality in the absence of religion. I am full of impotent rage

Hey, it's not all bad. I managed to get my ickle firsties to not merely admit, but suggest that Descartes' notion of God (3rd Meditation) is culturally indoctrinated. And these were commerce students.

Damn. That's impressive. I got my commerce students to suggest that Christianity was a meme designed to control the masses, but they were second years. I've found commere students to be pretty smart if you can trick them into thinking :)
