EDIT: For those who are satisfyingly less geeky out there, I am now the proud owner of a flat in sunny Addiscombe, a mere three minute tram jaunt from East Croydon ( Read more... )

Danke! Nice icon, btw.

So, may be seeing you in Clarets at some point. Do they do food? And if so, is it any good?

Mentioned you to the crowd I go with, but you should try to come along to one of the pub meets or something first and get to know 'em...

And no, no food, AFAIK. Great real ale, though!

Congratulations on being less geeky than lproven [grin]. Indeed it does, and I have now updated the main post to explain ... although by now the workface of LJ readership will have passed on, leaving my post to smoulder gently amongst the vast swathe of informational terrain that has been seen and passed over.

But yes, I am now officialy a home-owner - although furnishing is currently restricted to two folding chairs, a cardboard box, and a kettle (oh, and a radio). Next stop, cute lickle tester paint pots ...

Hurrah! Congratulations on (presumably) being in an absurd amount of debt :)

Did you do the legal side of it yourself, you being a qualified solicitor and all?

And I'm sure you've probably told me this before, but where is it you work these days? Only you always seem to be having journalists and politicians popping round to visit.

Debt fortunately minimised, but unfortunately not a qualified solicitor - never completed (or even started) my training contract, although I am a picky sod by inclination, if not profession.

And currently working for the mental health charity SANE, hence the random appearances of politicos and journalists - Marjorie Wallace, our Chief Exec, is quite a frequent media interviewee, and was one of the first wave when it came to the outcry over the Bonkers Bruno headlines in the SUN.

Can recommend drinking in The Ship ... and shopping in Beanos ... but as for settling in, that may take a while, as I need to get around to actually doing that furnishing thing ... aiming to be in for Christmas, though.
I was sure that I had to know some people who lived south of the river!
