[Croydon] Idiots on tarmac

I've seen some special sights on the roads in Croydon (including the classic "South London dipped beam" (sidelights and foglights)), but on Saturday night I saw something truly ... well, almost unbelievable.

Driving into London on Saturday night to get to uberredfraggle's birthday drinks, we saw a car pull out ahead of us, swinging wide around the other parked ( Read more... )

Yes he was rather special. I felt like I should have been in an episode of 'police, camera, action' heh.

Heh yes. He wasn't the only special one on the road, just possibly the most special that night. :)

And suddenly, I'm once again hugely relieved to have moved out of Croydon.

That driver was speshul, indeed. You should have taken a pic and posted it to failblog.org and then called the coppers.

A shopper wheely-bag probably isn't that bad an idea in snow/ice on the pavement, though. :D

I think shopper wheely-bag things are tying to move away from the little old lady market, and attract new users. I saw one in shiny scarlet PVC the other day.

Sadly, calling the police probably wouldn't have done much good. In the past I have called 999 upon seeing a clearly very dangerous driver (including once a transit van full of unsecured kids, i.e. not even in seats), and the response has always been 'would you be prepared to give evidence in court'. To which I reply, well of course, but that isnt the point, can you send a car? But it seems they "don't do that". just one of lifes little things that makes you want to scream.

Part of the 'Sponging Class' factor in Croydon is inbreeding I'm sure of it :D
