Have you heard? Someone is defacing ... the defacers street artists!
Link to the storyI find it totally ironic that most people are offended that someone dare deface graffiti. Isn't the whole 'street art' movement about how transiant the works are? Like turn a corner one day, it's there but it might not be there later. I kinda agree with some of ( Read more... )

Yeah, I mean you're not really 'sticking it to the man' or 'championing freedom of expression' when you're part of the establishment you were supposed to be fighting against. Happens with a lot of musicians too.

The guy with the notice sounds like a pretentious ass, but he has some good points >D

Really? I guess he/she might sound like an ass.

I kinda read into it and thought the use of big words was kinda a put-down on the street artists themselves. (As in "haha they'd need a dictionary to read this!")

Plus I pretty much agree with what the person says - although i think the "harm will come to those who try to take this down" was very childish.

Like I said in my reply to nyrnym359 I like how they are now called "street artists" when originally they were called "graffiti artists." And I'm sure they started calling themselves street artists due to the negative connotation that the word 'graffiti' tends to have.

I think there's a unvoiced rule in the underground that if someone puts something on the wall, don't paint over it. I think this only applies to ppl who have decent street art and have built up a reputation though. It kinda goes with the whole "street" idealogy - that your rep is your life ( ... )
