Birds of prey
We saw an American kestrel, a great horned owl, a red tail hawk, and a tiny screech owl today, up close and personal. I wish I'd thought to bring the camera. Incredible, gorgeous, awe-inspiring, wise creatures. The red tail hawk seemed to stare at me for quite a long stretch--I could not look away, I was under her spell. I was furious.

Disbelief. Dejection.
What a horrible election result. At least Barbara Mikulski got reelected and Barack Obama is in. But those little lights of hope seem so dim in comparison.
