Oh, sweetheart. I'm so sorry that the laws did not work in your favor. It's beyond disappointing...it's pretty sickening, actually.

I've heard of those profile books. My mom's next-door neighbors adopted a child a couple of years ago and had to put one together. It was apparently so impressive that they were picked out of a pool of nearly 200 applicants. Next time I go over there I'll ask if I can see it so that I can find out what a "successful" one looks like. And lord knows if you need help writing or editing yours I'll happily offer my services.
