Finished the book! There is so much I would like to talk about and I will write some entries soon, but for now...comment if you have thoughts about adwd you would like to discuss!
It's too soon for me to decide if this is a favorite book in the series, but I will say I ended up very satisfied with most of the character's stories (not satisfied if this were a last book, obviously, most were cliffhangers). I will say that there were too many similar povs, traveling scenes, talks of rape (though good for George for showing us several times that male on male rape is real) and just..too much of a continent I know little about. Despite that I am really satisfied here.
Though the existence of Aegon is still annoying to me.
Aegon's existence irked me for like an hour, until I realized that maybe GRRM was setting up an actual viable alternative to Dany (whom I think is pretty much the worst ruler ever) and it made me happy.
Seriously, if Dany ends up "winning" the game of thrones I am going to be severely disappointed. This book especially demonstrated what a shitty ruler she would be.
I want to discuss so so many things. Jon's taking a grip of his own new power. Winterfell's destiny. Davos and the awesomesauce that is Lord Manderly XD. etc
Manderly is amazeballs! I love that he plays off people thinking he is dumb cause he's fat. Idk what to think about Jon's end and Winterfell, I cannot really think of ending with either of those things that I love right now. Also, Davos and Rickon and cannibals@? Scary stuff.

This is a good lj to go to for this comment I think. XD It was sooo great having Theon back, despite what all happened in his chapters. (Actually lol partially because? I was mildly reminded of Darsanga.) The Jeyne Poole rescue was my biggest fuck yeahhhhh in this book. And one of my favorite moments in the series tbh.

lol well he soooort of did in a way, XD because Roose and the Markhagir are both rocking that "I look extremely ordinary but I'm actually a sociopath" thing. But the Markhagir's behavior is much much more Ramsay-ish and I'll stop now.

!!!!SPOILERS!!!
Loved Jon's last chapter and saw Quentyn's fate from a mile away, but loved watching it unfurl nonetheless.
I would say not quite as good as Storm of Swords, overall, but definitely my second favorite.

I really think the seven kingdoms should split up, with a pact to come together again if others come again or something.

The Mahrkagir interacting w/ Ramsay Bolton is a crossover I never want to see.
