Take Two...

Jan 06, 2008 12:54

Ok - I've had another go at the tattoo design, and am after a few opinions, again. I'm sure which one I want, but again want to check if there's anything I've missed.

So - without further ado, ( more piccies. )

design, semantic overloading, body mods

I think I'd go for three or four.

Speaking of numbers, I will see you and L at half-six today, barring acts of god.

aha! There's always one, isn't there?

Yes. was god to see you, however low-level-stressful the meeting was.

Still convinced?

Very much so, although still no word from landlord. I'll give it till the end of the week but at this rate I'd be looking at the end of Feb as a start date, as far as I can see.

Sounds fair - shall see what we can do in the meantime. Am looking forward to moving into a house which at least has the potential to be warm!

3, I like the off-centre more than 2 whilst the tiny ickle white star in 1 and 4 seems too tiny and ickle.

Thanks. Bear in mind the tattoo is going to be a lot bigger than the images, so I'm tempted to think that one'll come out in the wash.

Design three. As people have already said, the slightly off-centred nature of it makes it more appealing. I think that since the crescent dominates the lower right, the star needs to be off-centre to balance that out.
Design four, while I like the little white star, will suffer over time. Small details like that white star within the red will blur and fade the fastest.

Hmmm - again, am thinking that the little absent star may be nicer, and am hoping that the design will be large enough that the detail will stay, particularly if I get the thing outlined.

I'm afraid I think designs 2,3 and 4 still look a lot like the flag of Northern Cyprus, and are also evocative of the Turkish and Pakistani flags.

The crescent moon and star are internationally recognised symbols of Islam...hence their appearance on these flags, it's also that the red coincides with the flag of Northern Cyprus.

Yus. The inclusion of them both had something to do with that originally, in fact, so - yes. Certain level of evocation is unavoidable. Just as long as it is not quite so similar, then all will be well. Yes. Universality of lunar imagery and all that. Thank you, though! You do seemm to be cultivating a wonderful range of lovely icons.

I know you intended some level of Islamic symbolism, I just feel that with those designs it does tend to dominate over the other elements, plus there is still the resemblance to the flag/s as a side issue, but you have accepted that.

I prefer design one, but as others have mentioned, it would have to be significantly large to try to avoid potential tattoo problems, and even then, the internal star is a riskier design. I prefer it not only because of the flag issue, which I keep harping on about, but because it is cleaner and this appeals more to me.

You do seem to be cultivating a wonderful range of lovely icons.

Thank you, you are very sweet. irrumator made them for me.

I think I like 1 best, but if I had to choose one with the larger star I'd probably go with 4, but with the big star a bit more central. Because I like symmetry. But they all look cool...

Thankee! Currently running with 1, with a side order of "Oooh, but what about 3?"

Have re-jigged them a little, and will repost. Glad you like!
