There was an episode about religion. Kurt (gay kid)'s dad has a heart attack and he's in a coma and all the kids want to make it about them and pray at his bedside and Kurt's like, "No thanks. I don't believe." and every atheist is only an atheist because something bad happened to them and Christians pray because they care about you, even though all through the episode they are saying things like, "But it makes *me* feel better." And the end is that Kurt's friend invites him to church and evangelizes the shit out of him and he apologized *to her* for not "respecting her faith" or some shit.
Basically a whole lot of religious fuckery. But there was a really funny sub-story about a Grilled Cheesus.
I mean, I could understand the "I pray because it makes me feel better" thing in the context of trying to exert some control (or feel like they're doing something helpful) over a situation in which one has little to none. Still, ouch.
People make fun of me for Caprica but I'll take my Thinly Veiled Judeo-Christian Terrorism and RELIGION RELIGION IT'S EVERYWHERE subplots over heavy-handed YAY JESUS nonsense. At least it doesn't tackle religion like we're in sunday school, lol.
I haven't watched Caprica but I loved Battlestar. I generally try to wait until a show is finished before I watch, so I can get it back-to-back. I actually liked the religious plot line in that show, and in other sci-fi (Babylon 5 is my favorite show and that's one of the reasons). It's the heavy-handedness of it that bothers me. It doesn't make you think. It just confirms your beliefs or annoys you.
