This episode is certainly amazing! It's Utena's temporary loss to Touga which really got me to love this series, but every few episodes something new comes along to reaffirm that love.
...and that didn't sound ridiculous at all ^^;
I was mainly angry at Saionji for being so ignorant. Here he's not even being intentionally cruel, he's just being too much of a...a...(words fail me to describe how stupid he was being during this episode!)...well, a something very insulting, to realize that he was hurting Wakaba.
Saioniji is a total ass, there's no doubt about that. I mean, on the outside he can act like a decent person, which is how Wakaba was able to fool herself into thinking that there was a chance that this could work, could last, but on the inside he's still the Anthy-obsessed, Touga-surpassing jerk he's always been.
I mean, really, if he'd been able to pull his head out of his...and recognize Wakaba's feelings and efforts as valid, the both of them could have been very happy together. But alas, he couldn't, and so he will continue to be played by people like Touga and Souji and through him people will continue to be hurt.
Just wanted to say I love this episode so much and it is a prime example of how amazing this show is with its characterization. Wakaba gains new dimensions here and it fits perfectly with what we've of her in the past. It was very interesting to see Anthy telling Utena that she needed to fight as well.
I'll just say the ending to this arc is pretty epic, if a little confusing.
Yes, it is absolutely incredible to see such incredibly tight characterization, and with Anthy telling Utena that she needed to fight, we get yet another hint as to the true nature of Anthy...
Hmm, how much longer would you say this arc is? The way it seems to me, four or five more episodes sounds about right.
