OMG THAT'S WHY I LOVE SHIORI. /shot instantly (Haaa, why else would I go all the way back to this entry just to see what you'd say about her? ;D)
Well, I'd ship Juri with Miki too, actually. Because, as one wise fan once said, one of the top ten things you'd never hear any RGU character say is Juri saying to Shiori "I love you," and vice cersa. (/insert ORLY-face)
But I like her because she's so pitiful, and in all the wrong ways, and it makes her petty. And the way that she's portrayed as petty makes you want to hate her, but...ugh, it's hard to explain. Her epitome of insecure-high-school-mean-girl-who-ruins-lives-just-to-feel-secure is just so well portrayed in that she really is, in a way, cruelly innocent to just the amount of damage she does.
Well, the only RGU characters who would say "I Love You" are Utena and Anthy, and Nanami to Touga. That's...pretty much it I think.
I will give you, she is a very precisely and meticulously written character, especially in episodes 28 and 29, when Ruka shows up and proves to be even worse than her. I just...I feel so sorry for Juri, having had such horrible, horrible friends, you know?

Yeah, I get your point! Actually, a lot of Juri fans tend to dislike Shiori, and it's similar vice-versa. I'm actually one who likes both, but I'm more inclined to fangirl over Shiori, since she's the considerably less perfect one, and it's hard to pity her, and she has such an inferiority complex! I'm more so intrigued by what she stands for in regards to that.
And those episodes. That duel! Ugh, I feel sorry for Juri too, yet the excitement of that duel made it one of my favorites. <3

I'm not surprised to hear that! The thing is, I don't usually get SO personally attached to a character that I hate the people who are mean to them or treat them badly. I mean, even when Seto Kaiba was being a world-class jackass to Yuugi after the latter saved his life, I was more 'hell yeah!' at Anzu delivering an awesome verbal smack-down to Seto, than I was infuriated with Seto for being so mean to Yuugi. So yeah, I'm experiencing more and more of the fannish experience! =D
Very exciting duel indeed! And then Ruka went and died off screen, which made hating him just a little awkward. Just a little, I still hate him plenty. XD
Yeah, I remember that's what you said the last time you were online. So...any fics I could write for you?
