Kamen Rider Den-O

I, have arrived!

Incorporeal beings called Imagins arrive from the future; by possessing a person and going through their imaginations they acquire a physical form.  By forming a contract with that person and fulfilling their wish, they can use that person’s most important memory to travel back in time and change history to better suit their own ( Read more... )

That was a nice review. I haven't completed Den-O yet, but it's been pretty good.

Apparently, Kai's schtick is that he presents himself in a normal schmuck who wants to destroy the world. Guess either the actor wasn't very good or he wasn't directly properly.

Found it kinda weird that as of episode 40 only one Imagin was presented as female.

Apparently, Takeru Satoh wouldn't mind reprising his role in future movies, but his agency wouldn't let him.

Are you going to watch the Den-O movies in any order?

It is pretty good, though definitely jarring for anyone who was more used to the more dramatic Kamen Riders from earlier on; it's easy to see why the show was so and continues to be so divisive in the fandom.

Kai was meant to be seen as normal? Yeah, I'd say he was badly directed and badly performed, because I didn't pick that up at all.

Monogender monsters are sadly pretty common in both Kamen Rider and Super Sentai; I think W and Fourze have been the big exceptions to that rule.

Sounds like the guy who played TimeRed in Timeranger, which was another show written by Yasuko Kobayashi.

As to the movies, I'll be watching them in the order they came out, that just seems the sensible way to go about things.

I've seen people admit it's good but wish that Den-O could just be laid to rest already. Toei must have eventually listened, because we now got Superhero Taisen instead! lol

Also, Naomi is played by the female lead from Agito and seems to act like an honorary Imagin.

I might have misworded that. It seems that Kai was meant to be creepy by not expressing himself in an expressively villainous manner.

The downpoint of Hana's cast change was that she seemed to have been demoted to extra. The replacement isn't so bad but I guess they can't ride the stuff they planned with how young she is. It was probably good luck that Hana's actress left just around the time the plot point around the second rail appeared or they were able to incorporate it pretty well.

I just laugh at Momotaros complaining that his form isn't cool. You're an Oni, how is that not cool?

TimeRed's actor got forbidden from participating?

Oh ho, and even then the Den-O crew got a disproportionately big role in the proceedings of that turkey. No, we will never be free of Den-O, the climax will never, ever end.

I am convinced that Naomi is in fact possessed by an Imagin, she has the colored streak in her hair and everything! Also, the way she and Ryuutaros play together is very adorable to me.

Ah. Well, whatever it was they were trying to do with Kai, it didn't work.

Yeah, that was a lot like what happened with Hiyori in Kabuto, and considering how both Hibiki and Blade had their head writers replaced halfway through their runs, this was kind of a rough period for Kamen Rider it seems.

I think he would have complained no matter what form Ryoutaro gave him, he is the petulant teen of the group after all.

Something like that, I remember reading that his agency has tried to downplay his time on Timeranger.
