Journal Layouts

Feb 27, 2008 15:52

I've just tried a change of journal layout, as I was bored with the Generator-with-background-photo style I've had for the last few years. I'm currently on one of the Dear Diary designs, with the colours changed slightly, but I'm not happy with it. The Expressive layouts seem like 'in' ones, but I really don't like having all the tags visible ( Read more... )

Aren't there options to turn off the tag listings - as well as the page summary and so on?

I think I'm using Haven at the moment, albeit with loads of things turned off.

It's in a little bit in the options--usually, it's where you can choose what order you want things to appear in the sidebar, but instead of choosing "first" or "second" for the tag cloud, I don't give it a position at all, and it disappears. I use expressive themes a lot, but I would never do it if my tags were showing!

I've been using ones by thefulcrum lately. They are lovely & simple to load. The one I'm using now has the tags turned on, but I bet you could turn that off.

A thing you may/may not know is that since I use style!mine and have tags on my sidebar, all your tags are visible to me.

I'm using Digital Multiplex (OSWD), one of the very old layouts, but I did change a lot of theoptions - changed almost all colors and adapted what's visible where rather heavy.

For my VBA journal vba_corner I wanted to have all the tags visible, but Digital Multiplex doesn't have this option, so I used Nautical (again with tweaking the colors a lot). But I hate hate hate that the page summary in the newer layouts doesn't have links to the html pages of the posts, but only to their place in the current view. If I want to see a post on the current view, I can scroll down. If I click a post title in the page summary, I want to go to the html site with this post alone. Actually, if the post doesn't contain a lj-cut, I don't seem to be able to get to this html page at all... This is the main reason I rather use the older layouts.
