I just finished reading Middlemarch and I'm feeling a little rudderless

No, I'm not going to analyze or discuss it. I'm just going to pat myself on the back for finishing a 900-page Victorian novel. Reading a chapter or two most nights before bed, it took me three months. Trufax. But it was fun; George Eliot is awesome ( Read more... )

I liked A Tale of Two Cities better than Vanity Fair so that's my vote! But it's been a long time since I read either. Funnily enough, I'm actually using my copy of Vanity Fair as a doorstop at the moment. ;)

*giggles* Victorian novels do, indeed, make excellent doorstops.

I'm leaning toward the Dickens, too, even though I've had a Dickens allergy since high school. Maybe a good experience will cure me? I think I just wasn't prepared for that kind of writing and storytelling as a 14 year old, but maybe now I'm ready.
