Ficlet: Wake Up Older (J/K/S...but not in a fun, elise_509 kinky way)

So I'm back early. So I'm depressed. (Sometimes, I'd like to kick my boyfriend's ass for being oblivious. And, then there's Kathy...dear...0_0...*wibbles ( Read more... )

ha! not in the "fun elise_509 kinky way"? lmao.

this was beautiful. it's something that i could very much see happening on the show, jack picking up the pieces if sawyer hurt her, or even vice versa. i could definitely see jack doing it almost despite himself, even though he knows he'll only get hurt in the end, but doing it anyway, just to be able to DO something.

i'm wibbling about kathy too. i hope she gets through whatever's going on okay. :(

good luck with the move. moving is such a pain in the butt. rarrr.

Now that you mention it, I do think Jack is actually much more likely to finally have sex with Kate not because he's always wanted her but because she needs some sort of repair. I don't know if that makes him well-meaning or just screwed-up. But I love him just the same. Bless him, he's a dumb ass sometimes.

I wasn't trying to fish you in by using your name in the subject line. But I'm glad you read it anyway. ;)

i think if kate needed someone to be there, wanted jack just for the night, he'd probably give in. i think he'd be resistant at first, thinking she was upset and would regret it later, but if she pushed it, clung to him, he'd let her win and let her have what she needed. he'd get really hurt by it in the end, but if one thing can be said about jack, he rarely puts himself first and keeps his own desires repressed. which i think makes him well-meaning and screwed up? he's a dumb ass, but he's my lovely dumb ass.

darling, you would never have to fish me in. i read anything you write. you could write a charlie/locke/eko love triangle and i would read it. though perhaps i might ask you if you were crazy first. then read it.

and ha! like your new name tag: flashback desmond's love slave. hmmm...desmond.

I was not sure if she was with Jack or Sawyer until the very end, it could have been both... Very well done. Oh, and that's not a crappy story, I really liked it.

I'm sad about Kathy too :(

I left it open and confusing for a while on purpose, I suppose to make people guess. I'm glad that wasn't too annoying. Or crappy. :) Thanks.

It's always a delight to me that these three characters manage to consistently inspire such complex and interesting storylines … as this fic' so skillfully demonstrates …

Plenty of psychological meanderings, tapping into the heart of the J/S/K triangle of super angst.

This line really shouted from the screen to me …

"Oblivion. You forgot how necessary it could be."

… oh indeed it can.

"But there are things more destructive than whiskey or fire, you think. Then you push back against Jack’s body, and it doesn’t move. Yet."

leaving us with no illusions of "happily ever after" … not with this trio … everything is on an emotional precipice … which is why we love 'em so much.

why are you so unimpressed with this fic?? … it's only my opinion of course, but I thought it was bloody excellent and I appreciate you taking the time to share it with us on a bit of a sad old day for this community :( ♥

oh yeah, is this taken from something or is it from your pen? ... 'cause I kinda' like it.

"Oh, the things lovers do when it’s over ( ... )

The quote at the end was from the Julie Roberts song that inspired the story. I wish I had written it!

Thanks for leaving such nice feedback, especially when I was feeling mopey and self-deprecating and basically fishing for comments.

It really is a sad time in this corner of the fandom right now. I thought if I were to go against my usual nature and write something without a happy resolution, it ought to be now.

You know what I really love about this? That it can be read by anyone, so many different ways. I read parts of it from Sawyer's POV and parts from Kate's and it worked so well (not sure if that was the intention, but *I* liked that).

*rushes to reread a new way*

It was stunningly beautiful, BTW! ♥

Ha! You're obviously smarter than me. I wasn't even thinking about the 'you' being anybody but Kate. I really need to re-read it myself and leave it a little more open to interpretation.

*smooches* to you for making my fic more interesting!
